“CHI passa” All-Camp Tune for video
please film and submit the video by the time you go to bed on Thursday night. :)
“Chi Passa Per ‘Sta Strada” is an old Italian madrigal, written by Filippo Azzaiolo in 1557. It has been recorded by many different groups, including Yo-Yo Ma’s Silkroad Ensemble, where I first encountered the tune 17 years ago. It has been in my head ever since, and I think you’ll really enjoy learning and playing it!
FILMING GUIDELINES:
1) You must listen to the backing track in headphones on a separate device from what you are filming yourself with, in order for your playing to be the only thing we hear in your video. We don’t want to hear the backing track in your video!!
2) If you film with a phone, please use the horizontal “Landscape” mode.
3) To assist video syncing, CLAP when you hear "2" for the first time in the verbal count-off.
4) And make sure you tune your instrument to the backing track before your film. Lots of open strings in this one …
5) Before uploading, please label your video file with “instrument, level, name”.
6) We recommended that you download the backing track for your filming, instead of streaming it.
YOUR ARRANGEMENT:
You are free to create your own sequence of parts in your individual video, as long as they align with the options of the group arrangement, listed below, and as heard in the backing track. It may help to write your plan out. You are also free to follow your inspiration and incorporate any dancing/props/costumes/backgrounds, etc… that you wish. Just remember the cardinal rule of videos (and all performing, for that matter):
Enjoying yourself > Worrying about playing “perfectly”. :)
