“Fey-O” All-Camp Tune for video

“Fey-O” is a traditional Haitian village song in Haitian Creole language. Fèy literally means leaves, but it also refers to herbs given by a Voodoo priest or priestess to help heal a sick person. This song is about a parent going to a voodoo priest or priestess to get help for their sick child.

FILMING GUIDELINES:

Click here to download all materials.

You must listen to the backing track in headphones on a separate device from what you are filming yourself with, in order for your playing to be the only thing we hear in your video. We don’t want to hear the backing track in your video!! If you film with a phone, please use the horizontal “Landscape” mode. And make sure you tune your instrument to the backing track!! Lots of open strings in D Major …

You are free to create your own sequence of parts in your individual video, as long as they align with the options of the group arrangement, listed below, and as heard in the backing track. You are also free to follow your inspiration and incorporate any dancing/props/costumes/backgrounds, etc… that you wish. Just remember the cardinal rule of videos (and all performing, for that matter): Enjoying yourself > Worrying about playing “perfectly”. :)

It is recommended to download the backing track while filming, instead of streaming:

FEY-O ARRANGEMENT FOR VIDEO:

4x Just the A Section (first 8 bars), featuring Beginner Class on the Counter-Line!

BEGINNER PARTS

If you feel playing the melody is difficult (darn those High-3s (violin/viola) or 4th finger Exensions (cello) on the G-String!), please download this special part that you can record yourself playing - it is a bit simpler. We are going to feature the beginner players playing this 8 bar phrase right before the last time through the melody in the video. You don’t even need to play along with the backing track - just record yourself playing along with a metronome at 115 BPM. NOTE: Metronome must be silent and in headphones.
