Joshua Pinkham comes from a long line of performers and artists, and is the great grandson of Texas fiddling legend Benny Thomason, acoustic music runs deep in his veins. By age fifteen, Joshua Pinkham was featured on the cover of Mandolin Magazine and dubbed “the future of the mandolin”.
David Grisman calls Joshua “One of the most important improvisers in acoustic music today.”
Pinkham has established himself as a consummate performer known for his improvisational skill, driving rhythm and lifelong scholarship of acoustic, jazz and classical music. Pinkham has performed with some of the finest in the business, including Mike Marshall, Tony Rice, Vassar Clements, Chris Thile, David Grisman, Edgar Meyer, Sam Bush, J.D. Crowe, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Väsen, Del McCoury, Darol Anger, and Vulfpeck, to name a few.
As a founding member of Kittel & Co., Pinkham spends much of his time touring in support of the band’s album Whorls, and its Grammy-nominated track, Chrysalis.
